2 Packers who deserve presents and 2 who deserve coal on Christmas morning

Based on their contributions to the season that has been 2023, some members of the Packers organization deserve gifts from Santa. Others should wake up to find coal in their stockings.

Jordan Love has steadily progressed

Jordan Love still does not look like a star quarterback, and it's hard to put a finger on where, exactly, his ceiling might be. But part of why it's tricky to assess his ceiling with certainty is because he does keep improving.

After a somewhat concerning start to the season with an interception per week through his first eight games, his following performances have been pretty good.

Here's his line from the first eight weeks: 11 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 78.2 quarterback rating, .044 expected points added per play, -3.4 completion percentage over expected.

Since, his line: 14 touchdowns, three interceptions, 102.5 quarterback rating, .205 expected points added per play, 3.29 completion percentage over expected. Love has the fourth-best EPA per play since Week 9 behind Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott, and Matthew Stafford.

To provide the full picture, Love's five fumbles since Week 9 are a bit troublesome and are worth monitoring. Trading his interceptions for fumbles is not exactly a good trade. But the overall improved level of play seems to indicate that he's getting more comfortable and settling into the big shoes left to fill by Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, the two starters who preceded him in Wisconsin.

It has not been a perfect year, but Love has come along and earned his place on the Nice List for 2023.
