2024 NFL Draft: 5 sleepers you don't know yet, but will soon
4. Elijah Jones, CB, Boston College
The positions in any NFL draft that have the greatest positional value are quarterback, tackle, edge, and cornerback. Talent at these positions is usually taken early, and if you happen to get production from a late-round player at any of them, they call that player a steal.
Boston College corner Elijah Jones is exactly that.
Jones is currently projected in most mock drafts as a Day 3 pick despite racking up 21 passes defended and seven interceptions over the last two seasons for the Golden Eagles. He has good length at the position (6-foot-2) but some scouts think he's a little thin (185 pounds). He showed good tackling ability in college and always wanted to cover the opposition's best receiver.
Potential first-round pick Keon Coleman from Florida State did not catch a single ball against Boston College in September, thanks in large part to Jones. If your favorite team picks Jones late, jump for joy, because he will be a starter by the end of 2024. He may be a little raw, but his athleticism and style of play scream impact player at the NFL level.
