3 Dylan Cease-Yankees trade packages that don't involve Spencer Jones
Dylan Cease-Yankees trade No. 2
This next trade has the Yankees sending four of their top ten prospects to get Cease. They get to keep Hampton but have to give up their first-round pick from this past draft George Lombard Jr., and their second-best pitching prospect in Warren.
The only MLB piece the Yankees are giving up here is Wells who, again, is replaceable even if he's tough to give up. They'd be giving up two shortstop prospects which could hurt, but the Yankees have three youngsters in Anthony Volpe, Oswald Peraza, and Oswaldo Cabrera who are all MLB-ready and all capable shortstops. Volpe is a cornerstone at the position and is just 22 years old.
The question with this trade is if there is enough high-end talent for the White Sox to consider. Arias is the highest-ranked, but he's also many years away from even being close to MLB-ready. The same can be said about 18-year-old Lombard who has 13 games of professional baseball under his belt. Warren is a good get, but he's not as highly-touted as Hampton.
By doing this trade, Chicago would be pushing their timeline to compete back, but can potentially get a ton of upside if Arias and Lombard work out. This is the hardest sell of the three, but if the White Sox like the prospects enough it can work.
