3 big-name Ryan Grubb replacements Alabama can add on the fly

2. Kirby Moore worked for Kalen DeBoer at Fresno State previously

If there is any outside hire Alabama could land that would make a ton of sense on such short notice, it would have to be poaching offensive coordinator Kirby Moore away from Eliah Drinkwitz's Missouri Tigers staff. While Moore is the younger brother of new Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Kirby Moore is starting to emerge as a serious head-coaching candidate in the future.

He first worked with Kalen DeBoer on his Fresno State Bulldogs' staffs prior to DeBoer taking over at Washington. While in Columbia, Moore has run a balanced up-tempo attack that has transformed the Tigers from SEC East afterthoughts into one of the hardest outs in college football's toughest conference. Keep in mind Drinkwitz has already lost one coordinator to another SEC job this winter.

So while I think Moore would be a dynamite hire for DeBoer to make, as it would make the Crimson Tide better and Mizzou worse, I have my doubts that Drinkwitz will just let him walk like he did his former defensive coorinator Blake Baker did by going to LSU to go work for Brian Kelly. Missouri has the talent to make the expanded College Football Playoff, but it cannot sustain coaching attrition.

Had Moore been the offensive coordinator hire over Grubb, we would not be doing this right now...
