1) The Chiefs' odds to repeat just improved with the latest news

It can be argued that no team benefitted more from this sudden cap spike than the defending two-time Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were a team that was right around the cap line before this news, but are now set to have over $28 million to spend according to Spotrac, just below the league average of $32 million and good for 19th in the league.

The Chiefs were a team led in many ways by their defense on their way to their third Super Bowl win in the last five years but were set to lose several key contributors in free agency. With this latest news, who knows where they stand? Guys like Chris Jones, L'Jarius Sneed, Drue Tranquill, Willie Gay Jr., and Mike Danna were all set to hit free agency, but it's very possible Kansas City now finds a way to bring a good portion of those guys back.

Other teams receiving the exact same increase doesn't help, but the Chiefs offering a deal to those players (or really any free agent) likely means more because the players will know they're joining a team ready to win right now.

The Chiefs with a good amount of money to spend is a proposition opposing teams should be terrified of. Players who appeared to be as good as gone might remain in Kansas City after all.
