2. Shane Waldron is ripe for the picking in Seattle; he could he had, alright

If I were the Seattle Seahawks, I would seriously consider having a succession plan at head coach from Pete Carroll. The guy that I would want to be promoted from within after whenever the gum-chewing god of a football coach retires would have to be Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. He is a star on the rise in the coaching profession, but could he be poached this winter?

Waldron could be the type of offensive-minded head coach the Steelers are in dire need of. I mean, Waldron helped make Geno Smith into a Pro Bowler last season. The Seahawks were thought to be tanking after how poorly the 2021 NFL season went for them. Instead, they have been frisky as hell in the middle of the pack in the down NFC. Now imagine if he got the stability of the Steelers' franchise...

Waldron is seasoned enough as a coach to merit taking over at a place like Pittsburgh, but young enough to have realistic long-term staying power at the helm of the operation. When the Steelers hire a head coach, they are doing so with the belief that this guy will be in charge of coaching up the football team for the better part of two decades. That would put Waldron into his very early 60s then.

While he may not get a team of his own to lead this offseason, Waldron will be leading one very soon.
