4 Cowboys free agents Dan Quinn can bring with him to Washington
1) Tyron Smith, left tackle
Our first three choices are realistic, especially with Quinn being a defensive coach. Let's take one opportunity before we're done to shoot for the moon, though.
Tyron Smith has been a Cowboys mainstay for his entire 13-year career, making eight Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams. The likelihood of him ever leaving Dallas for anywhere other than a long, fulfilling retirement is extremely remote, but Washington has the money to at least force him to pick up the phone if they call.
The Commanders' offensive linemen might as well have not even been there last year for all the good they did. Washington allowed Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett to be sacked 65 times, and no amount of playcalling magic from offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy could change that.
The Commanders are extremely likely to draft a quarterback with the #2 overall pick. If they want their new franchise savior to succeed, they'll need to protect him. Just look at this past year. Bryce Young went #1 to Carolina, then played behind one of the worst lines in the league. Not coincidentally, his rookie season was an exercise in frustration. CJ Stroud was drafted next by the Texans, and he took the league by storm while Laremy Tunsil protected his blind side.
The odds of Smith crossing rivalry lines to go from Dallas to Washington are long indeed, but it doesn't hurt to try.
