2. San Diego State Aztecs should be a lot of fun under Sean Lewis' watch

My FanSided.com colleague Cody Williams mentioned the San Diego State Aztecs as a potential landing spot for Thompson in the portal last week. It was not my first thought as to where he could go, but I don't hate it. In fact, I am becoming increasingly intrigued with the idea of Thompson partnering up with Sean Lewis in San Diego. This is a Group of Five program very much on the rise.

Like Tulane, I would put the Aztecs in a group of about 10 or a dozen Group of Five teams that can make the expanded College Football Playoff next year. SDSU does not have the most robust history as a college football program, but the Aztecs have been a perennial contender in the Mountain West over the last several seasons. The winner of that league will have a realistic shot of making the CFP.

Factor in that Lewis runs a pass-heavy offense that gets the most out of his passing talent, this is not a terrible landing spot for Thompson in the transfer portal. He could put up a ton of yards in a new system and on a new team that may fit his skill set better. Thompson would not be playing all that far from his native Arizona either. San Diego State is one of those Power 4.5 programs we will talk about.

With Lewis taking over for Brady Hoke in probably indicates that he could be dipping into the portal.
