Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan injured his non-throwing shoulder during the team’s 28-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday. Even if the Falcons would have won, there is some belief that Ryan would have been unavailable for the team in the Super Bowl.
As for the extent of his injury, it is being reported that Ryan suffered a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder and he will not need surgery to repair the damage.
Update on Matt Ryan: Sprained AC joint in left shoulder. No surgery needed. Falcons now waiting to see if he still needs an MRI Monday.

Ryan will now have the entire offseason to recover from the injury as he looks to be 100 percent by the time training camp stars, which should not be an issue.
