Kevin Love is not going to be getting much from Timberwolves fans moving forward. After stupidly breaking his hand while reportedly doing knuckle pushups near the beginning of the season, the Wolves power forward underwent surprise knee surgery on Monday to remove loose bodies die to scar tissue in his knee. The latest surgery will keep Love out for an additional 4-6 weeks and will further strain an intense situation between the Love and the Wolves.

It’s no secret that Love and the Timberwolves front office aren’t the best of buds, and both sides are to blame for the situation we find ourselves in. But so far most of the blame is squarely on Love, as his hand injury was absolutely unnecessary and the timing of his surgery is now questionable as well. While the argument that Love waiting until now to have knee surgery suggests that he was hoping to return in 2013,  But it’s not as though the Timberwolves have just been eliminated from the playoffs, so the question as to why Love waited until this week to have surgery is valid.

The Timberwolves are in a bind with Love, as they’ve given him a big contract but one he’s still not happy with. He’s been openly standoff-ish with the club in the recent past and those that can see into the future are watching the bridge begin to burn. Love’s surgery means he’ll be recovered by late May, early June which puts him on track to be healthy for the start of the 2013-14 season.

But this season has been forgettable for more than one reason for the Wolves, and the uncertainty about Rick Adelman’s future with the team may further cause a rift between Minnesota and their only All-Star player.
