The Atlanta Falcons were rumored to be looking up for a defensive back and they did just that when the St. Louis Rams were on the clock. Atlanta gave up a third- and sixth-round pick to the Rams in order to jump up to select cornerback Desmond Trufant.

Trufant was the apple of Atlanta’s eye coming in to the draft, and they needed to jump ahead of Minnesota and Indianapolis to ensure they landed their guy.

It was also a great move for the Rams, who were able to recover some of the picks they traded away to acquire Tavon Austin. This selection was a win-win for both sides.
