Brian Banks has a shot at finally achieving his dreams of playing in the NFL after the Atlanta Falcons took a chance on the linebacker. Banks was poised for stardom and was hoping to play his college career at USC, before being falsely accused of rape and sentenced to time in jail.

Banks served ten-years of time (five years in the slammer and five years on house arrest) before he was exonerated.

Now, he is ready to leave everything out on the field and make the best of his opportunity to make it in the NFL. Banks knows the long layoff hurt his chances of ever becoming a starter in the league, but he is adapting and doing everything he can to make it and learn the ropes of the NFL.

“It was real good today to get out there. I’ve been in film the last two weeks so to get a chance to get out there and put all the knowledge that we’ve been putting on paper out onto the field was a really good experience for the first time,” Banks said, via the Falcons website.

“It was really fast-paced. I made a lot of really good moves, made a lot of mistakes, so adjustments will be made.”

It really is hard not to root for Banks.

After all that he has gone through in life and how close he was to losing a grasp on his NFL dreams, he has the motivation you need to make it and he will certainly have the necessary motivation.

You can never count Banks out.
