NBA Trade Rumors: Minnesota Timberwolves Trading Up In NBA Draft?

NBA Trade Rumors – Minnesota Timberwolves own the ninth pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, but according to rumors, the team’s new GM, Flip Saunders, is considering to trade up a couple of spots.

As the Brandon Roy project failed miserably, the Timberwolves are in desperate need of a solid two-guard, and according to Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500, Minnesota are interested in Victor Oladipo.

According to sources, the Wolves have spoken to Oladipo’s camp. No workout has been set up, because Oladipo’s representatives need sufficient evidence that the Wolves can move up to Orlando’s spot at No. 2, Washington’s spot at No. 3 or Charlotte’s spot at No. 4.

The Wolves clearly see the potential in the athletic and versatile Oladipo. If Minnesota do decide to trade up, it probably wouldn’t be too much of a problem. Other than offering their pick in return in a potential trade scenario, the Wolves have been rumored to be shopping Derrick Williams, a player that many teams would probably not mind taking a gamble on. Besides, all of the abovementioned teams have, according to rumors, been shopping their own picks.

I am a Flip Saunders fan. I was angry when he was fired years ago after having his team in the play-offs. Wolves haven’t been there since. I’ll never understand that firing, and in retrospect – it was clearly a blunder!!!! He was a Minnesota guy also. I must
say though, that I believe that a trade yielding Derrick Williams and our first round pick just to move several places
is a mistake. Williams is still very young, and is nowhere near his potential. He can – and has -played both the “4″ and the
“3″, and is great insurance at either position. He could start alongside Love, not just play behind him. D Will and Ricky seem to have a chemistry. Besides, after last season, who can totally count on Love? In fact, Love may still bold in next year.
The difference in players Wolves can get at #9 from #3 is not great enough to warrant yielding a number 2 – Williams!
Wolves should keep Derrick , and just draft their 2 first-round players. In the long run -they’ll be better off.
Besdies, Mayo, Reddick and others are available in free agency. Don’t get too concerned for Oladipo. Flip – you’re a hero of mine, and we all know you got chumped years ago – but dont’ give up Peter and John to get Paul, and for goodness, don’t give up on D-Will. Just draft wisely – that alone would be a massive improvement over our other G-Ms.

he will not if he makes a dumbass trade like that. Also the money he will have to pay at that spot. Oladipo also has bust written all over him. Reminds me of johnny flynn. This guy is no top 20 pick.

If we were to trade the 9th pick and Williams to get to a spot to draft Oladipo, we better get a player back as well, not just a pick. Williams is too good to not get another player back or at least multiple picks.
