NBA Draft 2013: Cleveland Cavaliers Players Pushing for Alex Len to Be No. 1 Pick
By Josh Hill
Over the last 12 hours, rumors have begun to fly in regarding the Cleveland Cavaliers interest in taking Maryland’s Alex Len with the first overall pick in the draft. Right now the Cav’s appear to be also heavily shopping the pick but they haven’t found a deal they like yet and time is running out to pull the trigger on a trade that moves them out of the top spot.
So as long as they stay in the top spot it looks like the Cav’s are eyeing Len very hard and players within the organization are pushing for the team to make him the pick when they go on the clock.
Len makes sense for the Cav’s at first overall but he’s far from being their only option. That’s part of what has made this draft season so much fun, as unlike years past there isn’t a clear-cut top pick as Nerlens Noel, Otto Porter and ben McLemore are all in the mix to be selected first overall. There’s also the drama of who will be the team that selects first overall as even though the Cavaliers won the lottery, they don’t seem to be very attached to the top pick and want to move it at the right price.
The draft is fast approaching, which means we will have some answers in the not too distant future. But until then, Len seems to be leading the pack and it looks like it might be staying that way for the time being.
