Last night the Denver Broncos defeated the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens despite missing veteran defensive back Champ Bailey.

There was some concern on how the defense would be able to stop Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens offense. It turns out that things were  fine as they rolled on to win 49-27 in the season opener.

Bailey was out of the game with a foot injury but is expected to play Week 2 against the New York Giants. Denver’s secondary held up pretty well especially his replacement Rodgers-Cromartie did a decent job containing Smith and prevented the long ball.

They are still a better defense with Champ Bailey in the lineup, so imagine how they will play when he suits up against the Giants.

If you haven’t had a chance to read my article comparing Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning, I wrote that I had picked the Broncos to win the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.

I still stand by my prediction and if the Broncos can perform all season like they did last night, they should have no problem winning it all this year.
