The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of question marks at the quarterback position. Current Vikings starter, Christian Ponder, suffered a rib injury early in last week’s loss to the Cleveland Browns. That had reports swirling that Ponder could be benched and Matt Cassel could get the start.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady even hinted that his friend Matt Cassel could be starting.

“I’m friends with both those guys. Matt Cassel, who may be starting this weekend. Brian, I text back and forth,” Brady said.

“We want Christian to play,” Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said.

Ponder must feel confident that he will play because he is operating under the mindset that he is playing.

“The biggest concern is contact,” Ponder said, via USA Today. “My mindset is I’m going to play.”

Reports indicate that he is getting first team reps.

We’ll see Friday who they announce as starter, looks like Christian Ponder will get the nod.
