The New York Jets traveled to Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. This looked like a game the Falcons could take advantage of to get a win and begin to turn around their season.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith had a different idea. After feeling responsible for the way last week’s game went, he apologized to the defense personally. Smith responded by getting out to a fast start completing 8 of 9 passes in the first half and throwing for two touchdowns to give the Jets a half time lead of 17-7 over the Falcons.

Early in the fourth quarter, Smith threw a third touchdown pass to Kellen Winslow to give the Jets a 13 point lead over the Falcons. Matt Ryan helped lead the Falcons back into the game and the Falcons went ahead 28-27 on a touchdown pass to Levine Toilolo with less than two minutes left in the game.

That is when Geno Smith really elevated his game. The Jets got the ball at the 20 yard line following the kick off. Smith completed 4 out of 4 passes on the drive for 37 yards and ran for 8 yards. That and a couple of Bilal Powell runs got the Jets in field goal range and Nick Folk put three points on the board for the win as time expired.

At the end of the day, Geno Smith completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 147.7 rating. Matt Ryan was also impressive with 36/45 passing for 319 yards and two touchdowns.
