The Atlanta Falcons had grand dreams coming into the 2013 season. After a successful 2012 and an offseason where they felt they plugged a massive hole with the addition of running back Steven Jackson, the Falcons were hoping for at minimum a playoff birth. But after a slow start and multiple big name injuries, Atlanta is just trying to get back to .500 as they currently sit at 2-5.

The march to mediocrity won’t be easy as Atlanta will travel to Carolina where they’ll take on the streaking Panthers who have won four of five, sitting at 4-3 on the season. Quarterback Cam Newton has been lights out over the past three weeks which has helped Carolina move to second in the NFC South.

Atlanta will be getting some reinforcements this weekend as the aforementioned Jackson, who has been sidelined since Week 2 is slated to start though the status of All-Pro wide receiver Roddy White is currently unknown.

They’re reinforcements the Falcons will need as the Panthers, outside of a Week 5 drubbing by the Arizona Cardinals have only given up 38 points in their last four games, excluding the game against Arizona.
