You can’t help but feel for Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart, who suffered a devastating injury in Sunday night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints.

It was clear Stewart’s injury wasn’t minor when it happened and reports this morning suggested Stewart suffered a ‘serious’ knee injury. How serious of an injury he suffered though, was  yet to be determined however according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers believe Stewart suffered a torn MCL:

"Panthers believe RB Jonathan Stewart has a torn MCL."

Stewart was to have an MRI this morning, of which the results are likely known despite not being released to the public as of yet.

The former Oregon Duck has struggled with injury during his NFL career, though, the MCL tear would obviously top the list and put a damper on the remainder of his career.

Stewart was part of the multi-headed Panthers rushing attack and wasn’t exactly having a booming season prior to the injury, so it’s questionable if he’ll have much of a future with the Panthers going forward.
