If the pain of the loss was not bad enough for the Carolina Panthers, it appears as though they also may have lost running back Jonathan Stewart for a significant amount of time as well.  Stewart was only able to have one carry for 16 yards in the 31-13 loss in the Super Dome against the New Orleans Saints.

Despite the loss, the Panthers are a strong contender to make the playoffs as the second wild card with a chance to still come back and win the division, but not having Stewart does not help.  The Panthers have DeAngelo Williams, but they really like to be able to just pound the football continuously to open up opportunities for Cam Newton as a passer and runner, shorten the game and play tough defense.

The Panthers host the New York Jets before getting a rematch, this time at home against the Saints in what could be the game that decides the NFC South division.
