After making it to the NFC Championship game last season, the Atlanta Falcons came into the 2013 campaign with a lot of optimism. Unfortunately the season didn’t go as planned and the Falcons were one of the league’s worst teams by record.

One of the biggest problems was quarterback Matt Ryan being under pressure consistently. He was sacked a career-high 44 times this year. He was also pressured on 204 dropbacks this season according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Wide receiver Roddy White is worried about his quarterback’s health or ability to stay healthy in the future if he doesn’t get more protection along the line.

“Next year, that’s got to be something that we improve: We’ve got to keep our quarterback clean because he’s not going to make it,” White said, via ESPN.com. “You keep taking hits and hits and you’re not going to make it. We’re going to have to find ways to get him protected, keep him upright so he can do what he do and that’s make throws and win football games.”
