The Detroit Lions cut safety Louis Delmas loose this past week and already there are a slew of teams that may end up showing an interest in the veteran when free agency begins. The Buffalo Bills have been mentioned as being possibly interested but now that Atlanta Falcons have joined the mix.

According to ESPN.com blogger Vaughn McClure, the Falcons are more than likely going to kick the tires on Delmas as soon as they can in March.

"Don’t be surprise if the Falcons investigate the possibility of adding free-agent safety Louis Delmas, who was cut by the Detroit Lions. Delmas became a cap casualty as he was set to count $6.5 million against the Lions’ cap this season."

The Falcons can use all the help they can get on defense and their secondary is in need of some veteran assistance. Signing Delmas isn’t going to be the difference between the Falcons winning the Super Bowl and the Falcons missing the playoffs, but having him around on defense wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for Atlanta.
