The Denver Broncos (somewhat shockingly) released Champ Bailey earlier this week leading to speculation that the secondary needy Atlanta Falcons would show interest.

It’s a sentiment shared by ESPN’s Vaughn McClure who believes there is a ‘strong possibility’ the Falcons may inquire about the veteran.

"There is a strong possibility they will look into adding recently released veteran Champ Bailey if Bailey is willing to play nickelback. Bailey is a Georgia native."

Bailey has reportedly informed teams that he is open to the idea of playing safety if they’re not in need of a corner, so Atlanta could make some sense.

With Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford on the corners, Atlanta wouldn’t be looking at Bailey for anything other than an emergency corner so it’s most likely they’re looking to give Robert McClain some competition.

Bailey is of course a Georgia native (as mentioned above) and played his college football as a member of the Bulldogs, so it could be a potential homecoming for the former All-Pro.
