Since the NFL’s negotiation period opened on Saturday, it became clear that the Atlanta Falcons were going to make signing Kansas City Chiefs free agent guard Jon Asamoah one of their top priorities early in the process.

Apparently the contract talks have been going smoothly between the Falcons and Asamoah’s agent, and now he is a strong favorite to sign with the team.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, it would be a “small upset” if Asamoah did not end up signing with Atlanta.

The man who drafted Asamoah in Kansas City, Scott Pioli, was signed during the offseason to serve as the Falcons new assistant general manager, so the connection to Atlanta is obviously there.
