This season was supposed to be one that saw the Minnesota Timberwolves squash national rumors that Kevin Love is on his way out by putting together a winning season. But like virtually every Wolves season, things ended with dissapointment and the search o fix the team will begin again this offseason.

Last offseason it was all about finding a new general manager, and Flip Saunders filled that role. This offseason will almost certainly be about replacing Rick Adelman as head coach and already the list of names is piling up. But one name on the list won’t likely make it far in the process, as Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg isn’t expected to be in the running for very long.

Hoiberg makes a ton of sense for the Wolves, as he’s not far from Minnesota down in Ames, Iowa and the connection between Iowa State an Minnesota isn’t lost on those living in both states.

But as much sense as it makes, there’s little hope that Hoiberg will leave his cushy job at Iowa State for a stressful tenure in the NBA. Someone will fill Adelman’s shoes in 2014-15 but it;s unlikely to be Hoiberg.
