The Atlanta Falcons have been one of the “hottest” teams on the NFL Draft board, especially given the combination of a lofty, #6 pick and a previous willingness to move up when the opportunity presents itself. In that vein, there is a report circulating that the Falcons will head on the road on Friday in an effort to work out South Carolina wide receiver Bruce Ellington.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Atlanta will take a look at Ellington, and this would be an interesting fit. The 5-foot-9 receiver is certainly rising up draft boards, as evidenced by his position as the 48th pick in the latest Mel Kiper, Jr. mock and the 60th pick in the same for Todd McShay, but the Falcons don’t exactly have a screaming wide receiver need with Julio Jones and Roddy White in the fold.

Still, Atlanta always seems to want firepower on the outside, and if they are doubting the prospects of their third option, Harry Douglas, Ellington would seem to be a nice slot player given his quickness and hands. Stay tuned to see where he lands.
