Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice addressed the media for the first time since video surfaced of him dragging his unconscious fiancee–now wife–out of an elevator at an Atlantic City hotel.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Rice apologized to the organization, fans, kids and anyone who was affected by his actions and regrets the incident and wished he could take back those 30 seconds, but doesn’t consider himself a failure because “he’s getting up after being knocked down.”

Awful choice of words there Ray, who had to look down to his phone on more than once occasion to make sure he was touching on all the points he wanted to address. As troubling as that was, the most troubling of this press conference besides his emotional plea to avoid a lengthy suspension was that his wife Janay apologized too.

Incredible. Apologizing for her role in getting knocked out by her current husband and dragged out of an elevator. We don’t know the full details of what happened in side that elevator that night, we only know the end result, but no matter what role she played, nothing excuses the alleged behavior of Rice who should face a lengthy suspension from the NFL.
