The NBA Draft is right around the corner and teams are starting to hammer out their final strategies to see just who they can land and what it will take to get the guy they want.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

One team looking at a trade — actually, multiple trades — are the Minnesota Timberwolves who want to both move up from the No. 13 overall pick and are fielding offers for embattled power forward Kevin Love. Of all the possible trades, the Wolves have so far discussed mainly being on the receiving end of deals but should they try to move up they would need to give something up, especially if they refuse to trade Love.

According to Chad Ford of ESPN.com, the Minnesota Timberwolves are still thinking about making a trade in the draft but there’s one guy you should probably expect them to not trade. Last year the Wolves traded away Trey Burke to acquire Louisville big man Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad, and the team is in love with Dieng’s potential.

This shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise as the Wolves need someone to rotate in for Nikola Pevokic and possibly even replace him if he’s ever lost to free agency, injury or a trade.

Dieng is probably the most exciting young player the Wolves have which figures as to why we hardly saw him in action last season. He’s a huge defensive threat for Minnesota and next to Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio, might be the Wolves most valuable asset on their roster — which is both encouraging for the future and depressing for the present.
