New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.

More from LeBron James

The Knicks obviously want to keep Anthony and are sending a contingent including owner James Dolan, president Phil Jackson and head coach Derek Fisher to meet with Anthony in an attempt to either prevent him from opting out, which is their first option, or convince him to re-sign with the Knicks in free agency.

The Knicks, however, aren’t the only team that wants Anthony. The Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets are all expected to heavily pursue Anthony and other teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers will likely get in the mix as well.

Over the last few days, another potential suitor has emerged – the Miami Heat. Anthony and Heat forward LeBron James are close and would like to play together. The Heat believe they can retain James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade while adding Anthony to the mix.

The folks over at Bovada have been kind enough to send over their latest odds regarding Anthony and whether or not he will sign with the Heat.

NBA Special – Will the Miami Heat sign Carmelo Anthony before the 2014-15 season?

Yes                  3/1

No                    1/5

As attractive as putting those four players together could be, it is unlikely they will all sacrifice that much money to get it done.

Anthony averaged 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game last season and shot 45.2% from the field, 40.2% from beyond the arc and 84.8% from the free throw line.
