Kansas City Royals broadcaster Rex Hudler did something few commentators ever get to do: he made a nice catch on a foul ball back to the booth

The Royals were at the plate in the bottom of the second inning with catcher Salvador Perez up to bat.  Perez fouled one straight back, and that’s when Hudler, a veteran of 13 major league seasons with six different teams, showed that he can still make a play.  And without a glove, no less!

Then what does he do?  Well, he does the best impromptu “flex-dance” that he can come up with.  Finally, he tosses the ball down to a boy below the booth.

This was one of the few things that the Royals had to be excited about today.  The Royals dropped a close one to the Mariners 2-1 in which they gave up a run in the ninth inning that they could not get back.  This marked the third straight loss for the Royals after their ten game winning streak came to an end.

More from Kansas City Royals

Royals lefty Jason Vargas pitched well for 8.2 innings, but he ultimately gave up the game winning single to Dustin Ackley with one out in the ninth.

The Royals will try to avoid being swept by Seattle at home tomorrow when they send Yordano Ventura to the mound.  He will be opposed by Cuban rookie Roenis Elias.
