The Penn State Nittany Lions have the nation’s No. 4 ranked class according to the 247Sports team rankings and Brandon Wimbush is a big reason for that lofty ranking for James Franklin’s first class as the four-star quarterback recruit is one of the nation’s best.

Wimbush (Jersey City, N.J. St. Peters Prep) had the chance to showcase his talents and impress at the Elite 11 with workouts beginning today and the 6-2, 205-pound quarterback showed off his right arm that may be the strongest in the camp.

The only one who could compare to the No. 5 dual-threat recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings would be No.1 pocket-passer and No. 6 overall recruit and UCLA commit Josh Rosen, who may go down as one of the best to ever compete at the Elite 11 by the time the camp closes later this week.

Look at the zip he puts on this strike that comes in so hot his receiver couldn’t bring it in. He will have to work on his touch on certain throws, but it reminds me of Brett Favre in his early days with the Green Bay Packers when his receivers would complain about their hands being so sore from catching passes from the future Hall of Famer.

He is more than just a body attached to a cannon that disguises itself as a right arm as he has nice feet and great awareness in the pocket that allowed him to go through this drill, and as Barton Simmons of 247Sports points out in the caption for the video, was the only one to do it correctly.

Wimbush committed to Penn State on May 6 and came to the Elite 11 as one of the more underrated prospects in attendance, but based on the results from the first day, he’ll be leaving with a lot more notoriety.
