Ricky Town arrived at the Elite 11 in Beaverton, Oregon as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 247Sports Rankings and a consensus five-star recruit, but the USC commit got off to a shaky start that resulted in him being left off the initial quarterback rankings.

Town’s arm strength is not quite where he would like it to be following arthroscopic knee surgery on his drive leg which has zapped some of the velocity on his throws and in a competition where you’re throwing against air, the velocity on your throws really stands out.

With the 7-on-7 portion of the camp underway on Monday, Town is looking to rebound and climb the rankings and show everyone in attendance that he is worthy of maintaining his tenuous hold on the top spot in the 247Sports Rankings.

Barton Simmons from 247Sports said, “Town put together maybe the best session yet.”

Town completed five of six passes with two touchdowns on his first two drives as the 6-4, 205-pound signal-caller is not letting one less-than-stellar day hinder his performance moving forward.

Town has a very accurate arm and all the intangibles in the world you’d want in a franchise quarterback and based on this video it appears that he’s feeling more and more confident in his leg that allows his to drive forward and put more velocity on his throws.

If Town continues to have performances like he did this afternoon against some of the top defenders in the country, then he should find himself in the top 11 quarterbacks and could hold off UCLA commit, Josh Rosen, as the top quarterback in the country.
