Josh Gordon is an excellent football player. In fact, he may be one of the brightest up and coming wide receivers in the NFL today. The issue with Gordon is that he simply can not stay out of trouble off the field, which is ultimately proving to become a major detriment to his team and career.

More from Cleveland Browns

Back in May, Gordon failed a second drug test, leading to potential one-year suspension that may be upheld during the appeals process in July. Just weeks before his court date, Gordon got into more trouble when he was arrested for a DWI. If his future in the NFL was not already cloudy enough, the fog has truly set in now.

The NFL’s leading receiver in yards in the 2013 season may miss the entire 2014 season because of his inability to keep a clean slate during the offseason.

Although the Browns are certainly unhappy with Gordon’s antics and behavior, reports are stating that the team will likely not cut him before training camp begins. The main reason they would not cut him is on the off chance that Gordon cleans himself up, and goes on to be one of the best receivers in the league for the next decade or so.

If in fact the Browns cut ties with Gordon, he will have to go through the waivers process and a team will have to be willing to pick up his shenanigans as well as the final two years on his contract. Of course, if any team decides to sign him, they have no guarantee that he will be playing next season.
