Les Miles is must-see TV when he is in front of a microphone and when the LSU head coach spoke at SEC Media Days on Wednesday afternoon, “The Mad Hatter” did not disappoint and made an interesting comparison for his highly-touted freshman running back, Leonard Fournette.

More from College Football

Fournette was the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit and expectations for him are for him to be one of the greatest backs in the SEC as a true freshman and one of the best in program history when his LSU career comes to a close and Miles compared his drive and determination is on par with Michael Jordan.

"“He is quiet, he’s humble in his approach and that’s exactly where he needs to be. He expects himself to be something very special. If you look at Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan could not have been coached to be Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan accepted the role of expecting him to be better than any and I think he has a quiet confidence there that will benefit him.”"

Fournette is used to having his name bandied about when he is compared to others as he has been referred to the best running back recruit since Adrian Peterson since his junior season at St. Augustine high school in New Orleans, but the comparison to the greatest basketball player of all-time is a new one, but one Miles has made commonplace today.

The comparisons will prove to be accurate and on point if Fournette can lead LSU to multiple SEC Championships and a National Championship or two before he likely departs for the NFL after his third year.

If you’re looking for the next big thing in college football, look no further than No. 7 at LSU as Fournette will have all eyes on him this season to see if he can live up to his coaches praise.
