Jameis Winston ballooned to 252 pounds after football season
By Dan Zinski
A football season can take its toll on an athlete’s body, but for Jameis Winston the bigger problem was awards season. The Heisman winner spent several weeks on the banquet circuit after the end of football, and had a problem turning down all the free food.

According to Winston, he got up to as high as 252 pounds as a result of his post-football feeding frenzy. But, as he told Bruce Feldman, he’s dropped 20 pounds since then and is taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen to him again. Winston told Feldman that next year he’ll only eat salad.
No crab legs.
No worries Jameis. I’m sure Publix has a fine selection of salad ingredients and dressings. So you should have no problem putting together a really good salad. I recommend a nice low-fat dressing, in the small bottle so it’s easier to sneak out under your shirt.
Thanks to his new salad-only diet, Jameis should be able to avoid ballooning back up to JaMarcus Russell-like proportions. That’s good news for Jameis. Because nothing will turn NFL teams off faster than looking like JaMarcus Russell.
The Johnny Manziel parties-too-much red flag is way less frightening than the JaMarcus Russell treats-his-body-like-a-garbage-dumpster red flag. I’d rather have a guy who drinks too much than a guy who eats too much. A drunk can still play quarterback, but a fat guy? How many fat quarterbacks have you ever seen?
Exactly.
