Mirko Jurkovic commits to Nebraska: Cornhuskers grab 3-star tackle
Nebraska landed their third offensive lineman commitment for the 2015 class after Mirko Jurkovic (South Bend, In. IMG Academy) became the 11th recruit to give his verbal commitment to the Huskers on Monday afternoon, announcing the news via his personal twitter account.
The 6-5, 275-pound offensive guard is a three-star recruit ranked as the No. 931 recruit overall, No. 63 guard recruit and the No. 127 recruit in the state of Florida. Despite his rankings coming at the guard position, Nebraska recruited Jurkovic with the intention of lining him up at tackle.
Jurkovic joins Michael Decker (Omaha, Neb. Omaha North) and Christian Gaylord (Baldwin City, Kan. Baldwin) as offensive line commitments for head coach Bo Pelini and could very well be the last offensive linemen in this year’s class.

His late father, Mirko enjoyed a successful career at Notre Dame and his uncle, John Jurkovic, played nine years in the NFL as a defensive tackle after playing his college football at Eastern Illinois. The bloodlines are there for Mirko to give Nebraska fans hope and reason to believe he can develop into the type of players his father and uncles were during their playing days.
With the addition of Jurkovic, Nebraska now owns the nation’s No. 27 class overall and the No. 5 class in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports team rankings. IMG Academy is turning into a factory for FBS recruits and is coached by former Florida State Heisman winner and Carolina Panthers quarterback, Chris Weinke.
