It was the second commitment from a 4-star prospect for the Seminoles in just three days. With Bello’s commitment, Florida State moved to No. 8 in the national rankings and maintained the No. 2 spot in the ACC recruiting rankings. FSU trails only Clemson in the ACC rankings, helped by 21 verbal commitments to this point.
Bello, a native of Montverde, Fla. chose the Seminoles over many offers and upset the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for many. He was an 85 percent pick for in-state rival Florida, with FSU holding just 15 percent of the predictions. So, what made him a Seminole verbal commit?
Spending three days at the Florida State elite football camp appeared to have won over the once-Gator lean.
The 6’6″, 295-pounder is the No. 137-ranked player nationally according to the 247Sports composite rankings, while also being the No. 12-ranked offensive tackle and the No. 24-ranked player in the state of Florida.
Florida State has 15 commitments in the 2015 class, which is the fewest of any top 10 class by 247Sports. Bello became the first offensive tackle to be added to the class, but the third offensive lineman to commit to the Seminoles for 2015.
Could this be the start of a big run for the reigning national champions? A lot will depend on when some of the big names want to make a decision, as Florida State is in for some of the top-ranked uncommitted prospects out there in the 2015 class.
