Oregon tops 2014 Pac 12 media poll

ESPN has released the Pac 12 media poll for the 2014 College Football Season. Here are the results:

Oregon: 232, 24 first place votes

UCLA: 231, 13 first place votes

Stanford: 192, 1 first place vote

USC: 181, 1 first place

Arizona State: 163

Washington: 142

Oregon State: 125

Arizona: 119

Washington State: 87

Utah: 82

Colorado: 43

California: 41

As expected, UCLA and Oregon are neck and neck at the top. That shouldn’t surprise anyone, since they are littered throughout preseason top five and top ten lists from everyone.

Tim Brando even put UCLA at number one!

If the media is right, Cal and Colorado are in for long years once again. Both of them have up-and-coming young quarterbacks that could alter the standings a bit.

Washington has a lot to replace, with Bishop Sankey and Keith Price off to the NFL. To me, theirs is the position that could fluctuate the most from this preseason poll.

Stanford is not going anywhere, and it seems as though the media feels the same way.

USC having a first place vote is a bit surprising. There is still unrest at the QB position, but if they figure that out, they definitely have the talent to turn into a contender. Usually polls are a little more conservative in preseason. That’s what makes them so different from the finished product.

Arizona State, Oregon State, and Arizona all look to be bowl contenders. And don’t count out Washington State with Mike Leach at the helm.

Utah would still seem to be in limbo, but if QB Tyler Wilson takes the next step, they could pull of at least one upset like they did with Stanford last year.
