Indianapolis Colts training camp is officially underway, but there seems like there could be some bad news right out of the gate.

More from Indianapolis Colts

Running back Vick Ballard was injured during practice on Friday and limped to the sidelines.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Ballard was then carted off of the practice field.

Ballard tore his ACL less than a year ago, so there is plenty of cause for concern when it comes to the health of the running back.

If there is any good news from the situation, it is that the injury does not appear to be to his knee.

The bad news is that he reportedly could not put any weight on his foot.

We will provide more information on Ballard’s status when the team provides an official update on his injury.

Ballard was part of the running back competition including Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw. If he can get healthy, Ballard should factor into the Colts offense with some carries but that is obviously dependent on just how severe this injury proves to be.
