The status of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was in doubt less than an hour before the preseason opener on Friday night against the Chicago Bears, but he is dressed and expected to play tonight, albeit likely for only a series or two.

More from College Football

Maclin is coming off a season lost due to an ACL tear was struggling to get through some leg soreness earlier in the week but will play in his first game since the 2012 season finale.

While the news surrounding Maclin is very encouraging as Eagles fans will get to see the presumptive No. 1 receiver on the field tonight, there are several notable players who will not play as they deal with a littany of injuries.

According to Geoff Mosher of CSN Philadelphia, defensive tackle Bennie Logan (hamstring), cornerback Nolan Carroll (hamstring/groin), wide receiver Riley Cooper (hamstring), inside linebacker Jake Knott (hamstring), center Julian Vandervelde (back), wideout Jeff Maehl (hamstring), and running back Chris Polk (hamstring) are all out tonight.

With Cooper out of the starting lineup, Arrelious Benn will have the opportunity to showcase himself in front of Chip Kelly and the rest of the Philadelphia coaching staff as he is fighting for a roster spot.

As Logan recovers from his hamstring injury, former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman Damion Square will replace him at nose tackle.

Kelly said that you can expect to see the starters play around 10-15 snaps as they get their feet in the opener.

The game starts at 8 p.m. ET and you can watch the game on Fox.
