Football and beer go together like peanut butter and jelly. Having one without the other just seems wrong, though, there’s a fine line between having just enough beer and having too much.

More from Buffalo Bills

That’s something Buffalo Bills fans may not understand, at least according to one author who spent the entire 2013 NFL season attending a game in every stadium in the league. Sean MacDonald, an author who states he has attended a game in every professional venue (MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL) in the country says no fan base is harder on the liquor than that of the Buffalo Bills.

“But what I remember most of all here is the wild atmosphere, one of the craziest I saw during my travels, with much of it due to excessive alcohol consumption. As you can probably guess, Bills fans are the drunkest I witnessed on my trip. That is true before, during and after the game. I even saw the Bills twice on the road and this observation was merely confirmed. Unfortunately, most of them are unable to hold their liquor and lose control, becoming a danger to others or to themselves.”

Keep in mind, there’s no scientific research on display here, just a matter of an opinion. Of course, MacDonald may have a more informed opinion than most considering the amount of games he attended for his Ultimate Football Road Trip book.

It’s certainly an interesting look at things and MacDonald, a Buffalo Bills fan himself doesn’t seem to wear blue and red glasses when talking about his fellow fans. Still, it’s hard to judge the most drunk fans in the NFL by attending a handful of games so take it with a grain of salt.
