Report: Wisconsin to start Tanner McEvoy at QB in LSU opener over Joel Stave
By Jack Crosby
We are just about one week away from the start of the 2014 college football season, and one of the huge opening weekend games to get the season kicked off will be between the Wisconsin Badgers and LSU Tigers. And when the Badgers take the field against the Tigers next Saturday, they will not have the veteran Joel Stave at quarterback, rather it will be redshirt junior Tanner McEvoy.

According to a report from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, head coach Gary Andersen has decided on McEvoy taking the field in the opener, instead of the sure hand that has been Stave the past few years.
While this news is definitely a shock to some, there could have been one main difference between the two that ultimately led to this decision on Friday, and that’s the fact that McEvoy is much better with his feet, something Stave cannot do effectively.
But this has certainly been quite the interesting journey for McEvoy to being the starting quarterback of the Badgers for the 2014 season. After transferring to Madison last year from Arizona Western College, he was eventually moved to the defensive side of the ball as a safety, where he was impressing the coaching staff.
However, this spring he was moved back to quarterback, and even finished out spring ball as the no. 1 quarterback while Stave took care of some lingering injuries from the Capital One Bowl this past January.
