The New York Jets came right out of the gate on Sunday and they sent a message to the Green Bay Packers that they had walked into Lambeau Field with the sole intention of winning that game by jumping out to a 21-3 lead. Well, that was all washed away in the second half of the contest when, on a play which would have tied the game, New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg called for a timeout which nullified the touchdown strike that Geno Smith had just fired off. Even though, well, he’s not even allowed to call a timeout.
It was yet another embarrassing moment for the Jets, so of course, you didn’t think the New York newspapers were going to take it easy on the veteran assistant, did you?
The New York Daily News certainly didn’t, as you will see in the photo below:
Well, that does about sum it all up, because everyone involved with the Jets organization did have to be sick to their stomachs when it all went down the way it did.
Hopefully, Rex Ryan has had the conversation with Mornhinweg, reiterating to him that he can’t, you know, actually call a timeout, whether it’s in a crucial situation or not.
