The New York Giants are 0-2 on the season after allowing 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to the Arizona Cardinals and backup quarterback Drew Stanton on Sunday, but Giants head coach Tom Coughlin doesn’t think it’s time to give up on the season.

New York hasn’t looked like a playoff team in the first two weeks as their lackluster play from the preseason has carries over into the regular season, but Coughlin urges the fans and players to don’t stop believin’ and doesn’t see the slow start as a reason to abandon hope.

“I don’t see this as being a reason for them not to be. Our task and our goal is to toughen up. Let’s go. Come on. Stop beating ourselves. This is professional football,” Coughlin said, via NJ.com. Make the plays necessary to win and do it on a consistent basis. Eliminate these bizarre events which take the heart right out of you. I hope they’ll respond to the fact that I’m counting on them to accept the challenge, to not feel sorry for ourselves and to realize the work that has to be done for us to win. I hope the fans will join in in that exact feeling.”

Eli Manning has four interceptions on the year, Victor Cruz has a case of the drops, the run game is non-existent and the team routinely shoots itself in the foot, but other than that, the Giants look great.

What looked like a potential win in the preseason with Week 3 opponent Houston Texans coming to town now looks like a tough game after Bill O’Brien has guided the team to a 2-0 start.

Wonder if Coughlin will change his optimistic tune if the Giants fall to 0-3? It may be possible that this team is worse than the one that started out 0-6 last year.
