Castrol motor oil is the latest NFL sponsor to take a stand against child abuse.

More from Minnesota Vikings

The company cut ties with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

Castrol’s decision just adds on to what has already been a disastrous last 24 hours for Peterson.

KHOU 11 reported on Monday that Peterson was investigated last year for a separate child abuse incident. Peterson was never charged, but the news certainly didn’t help him image.

Also, the Radisson temporarily ended its sponsorship of the Vikings.

On Tuesday, Anheuser-Busch released a statement criticizing the NFL’s actions during this situation and Nike stores in Minnesota began pulling Peterson gear from the shelves.. Additionally,  Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton called for Peterson to be suspended.

Peterson’s All Day Foundation also announced on Tuesday that it was going on hiatus due to harassment from the media.

Although the Vikings activated Peterson on Monday and said they expected him to play on Sunday versus the New Orleans Saints, these recent events might force Minnesota to change its hand.

The Vikings selected Peterson with the No. 7 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Peterson rushed for 75 yards on 21 carries in his only game this season.
