The Detroit Lions are down another man in the defensive backfield, following an injury to cornerback Nevin Lawson.

After losing Bill Bentley to a torn ACL, the Lions learned that Lawson’s season has likely come to an end after suffering dislocated toes in the team’s Week 2 loss on the road to the Carolina Panthers.

Lions head coach Jim Caldwell could not confirm Lawson will miss the remainder of the season, but he didn’t seem too optimistic.

“Now how long it’s going to be, I’m not certain as of yet,” Caldwell said, via the Detroit Free Press. “The doctors say they’ll look at him before they release him. He’s still there. He’ll be back in a day or so. They’ll give us a prognosis on the injury. I would not anticipate that he’ll be back this year. But hopefully, he’ll heal quickly.”

If the Lions need someone to step up and join the secondary as a role player, perhaps they could reach out to Champ Bailey who reportedly wouldn’t mind playing for the team.
