Oregon Ducks fans rejoice: the Marcus Mariota hype train continues to roll across the country.

Despite a slow start over Wyoming this past weekend, the Ducks Heisman hopeful, and likely first overall NFL pick, Marcus Mariota turned it on.

Mariota capped off another convincing victory and now finds himself on his third Sports Illustrated cover.

Called in the headline, and “Peaking Duck,” Mariota has far from just started to peak.

To this point in the 2014 season, he leads both the Heisman Pundit Straw Poll and the ESPN Heisman Predictions.  He has hands down been the best quarterback in the country, and his play in leading the Ducks to a win over Michigan State was evidence of that.

Marcus Mariota is likely the last athlete to openly embrace being on the cover of a national magazine.  A quiet humble kid, Mariota does his talking on the field, and even more so, with his ability.  For Oregon, a school predicated on flashiness, Marcus Mariota gets it done using the exact opposite strategy.

For Oregon, Pac-12 play opens this weekend as they travel to Washington State to face off with Mike Leech’s Cougars.  Mariota will once again be looking to put up a gaudy stat line and propel the Oregon Ducks to a 4-0 start.

Despite being his third Sports Illustrated cover, Marcus Mariota is likely far from done being on the front page of periodicals.
