Geno Smith throws another interception (GIF)

The New York Jets are a hard team to figure out. A big reason for that uncertainty is the fact that second-year quarterback Geno Smith is equally hard to figure out.

Blessed with the ability to run for big gains and make all the throws, Smith is maddening in his inconsistency. When he has been dialed in during his short career, he has led some impressive comebacks and put up points in a hurry. When he has been off his game, however, things have gotten ugly.

Smith may or may not be the answer for the Jets at quarterback, but he hardly inspires confidence when he makes mistakes like he has during the Jets’ Monday night showdown against the Chicago Bears. He threw a brutal pick-six inside the first minute of the first quarter. Smith then followed that up with an especially ugly third quarter interception in the end zone on an under-thrown ball to a player who was clearly covered.
