Boston fans are rolling their eyes, and Pittsburgh fans are grinding their teeth. Colorado fans, on the other hand, are rubbing their hands together with glee.

In his third stop on the “I’m Going To Win A Stanley Cup Before I Retire” tour, former Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla seems to have selected his right-hand man with the Colorado Avalanche- center Matt Duchene.
Iginla has run the gambit of elite centermen over the past couple of seasons. He sat permanently on the Boston Bruins’ first line last season with David Krejci and the ever-controversial Milan Lucic, and spent time on the ice with both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin during his questionable tenure with the Pittsburgh Penguins… but now, he seems confident in yet another set of superstars.
According to the Denver Post, Iginla is happy with the way he skates alongside Duchene and Ryan O’Reilly, who many weren’t sure would be able to return to Colorado this year.
Instead, though, the team let Paul Stastny walk, and brought O’Reilly back… with a future Hockey Hall Of Famer to pass him the puck.
Is this fair? As a Boston fan, I’m pouting and saying no. (As the editor of an Arizona Coyotes website, I’m also miffed about this. The ‘Yotes just want to make the playoffs again).
As a Colorado fan, though, you can’t help but hope that this is going to be another Ray Borque situation. With up-and-comers Duchene and O’Reilly skating out alongside the Canadian winger? It’s entirely likely.
