The Sacramento Kings have made no secret that they’re willing to trade a power forward but they don’t plan to give one away.

That stance has prevented Sacramento from making a trade to this point, though Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders hints a trade involving a power forward could be more likely down the road.

"I think a deal will come closer to the deadline, if they make one at all. There’s no reason for them to rush into a deal, especially when being patient could be more suitors to the table. During the season, a team with an injury or a struggling power forward may realize that they should give Sacramento a call."

With Jason Thompson, Carl Landry, Erik Moreland and Derrick Williams at the Sacramento Kings’ power forward spot, they certainly have the depth to make a deal. One problem they’re facing however are the elevated salaries of Thompson and Landry who are both ‘overpaid’ for what they bring to the table.

It seems likely that if the Sacramento Kings do make a trade involving one of their veteran PF’s, they’ll likely absorb a bad contract in return as they’re not likely to get much of value in a trade scenario.

Sacramento has routinely been attempting to clear salary this offseason so it’s possible Pete D’Alessandro and company may attempt to move Thompson, Williams or Landry for an expiring contract.
